As you know... We love hanging out with Leicester Lo-Fievery Tuesday 6-9pm actually. It's a rather lovely time, where we all work in the darkroom or develop negatives, or simply do the most British thing possible, and drink tea. So much tea was consumed, in fact that there was a stray cup near the enlargers we were using, only seen under the red glow of the darkroom safety lights.

We're calling upon you lot, the public, who has a fine interest in socialising, photography and/or drinking tea. Lo-Fi have an ongoing project called Shelf Life. This project outlines and details those magnificent shops you all walk past and curiosity grabs you in. The more well known of these quirky shops in Leicester would be The Very Bazaar located on Silver Street in the town centre. Very Bazaar contains a gorgeous array of colourful and spiritual knick knacks, mesmorising crystals and beautifully crafted jewellery. Deep aromas surround the place and you feel like you've walked into Aladdin's cave

I was extremely lucky enough to photograph this gentleman. He loves his coffee. Not only did I want to capture a real sense of the place, but also who worked there. This is Andy, I have referred to him as Skull Andy. The Very Bazaar has stood for over 40 years, they celebrated this by having a wonderful street festival - we're just hoping it's an annual thing for these guys.

Another fantastic place is the Tin Drum Book Shoplocated on Narborough Road. We're hoping that most of you know this book shop, it is just marvellous. The Tin Drum is the pinnacle of vintage book shops, and it's right here in Leicester! Shelves stacked all the way to the ceiling, to the floor, every square inch of this quirky small book shop is covered in fiction, art, literature, sci-fi, old classics, language books, photography books *wink wink nudge nudge* foreign affairs, magazines and poetry.

These are the types of engaging places Shelf Life is all about. Do you know anywhere you'd like to photograph? Independent and unusual shops? Well!! Glad you asked! This SUNDAY 6TH DECEMBER, Leicester Lo-Fi are meeting up in Clarendon Park for a social event doing exactly this. Come along if you've got nothing on this Sunday, we'll teach you how to use the medium format required for the Shelf Life project.

The current exhibition of all 8 photographs done thus far, reside at Lo-Fi's headquarters in Manor House, just off Haddenham Road, just off Narborough Road. You can see them in their full glory every Tuesday 6 - 9pm. We would LOVE to have more for the wall, so why not join us this Sunday 6th December along Queen's Road in the quintessentially independent cafe known as Fingerprints! This is presently our meeting point for Sunday, coinciding nicely with Clarendon Park's Christmas Fair! There will be a bucket load of things going on to keep everyone entertained!
